Criteria for application

A one-time administrative fee of SGD 50.00 applies to the Registered Clinical Supervisor application.

Before you apply

Work from the current criteria document and application form before you apply. The criteria are set by the Clinical Supervision Board and are revised from time to time.

Academic qualifications

Minimum Master’s degree. Submission of all certificates, unless available on SAC portal.

Registered Counsellor status

Minimum three (3) years post SAC Registered Counsellor status. All log sheets are to be endorsed by SAC registered Supervisors or equivalent clinical supervisors from other recognised professional counselling bodies.

Practice hours

Minimum 1500 hours post-graduation practice. Provide log sheets demonstrating minimum 1,500 post-graduation practice hours, of which at least fifty (50) hours were for the provision of supervision (which can only be clocked during/after the training in clinical supervision). 1500 hours is inclusive of those submitted during the admission as a Clinical Member / Registered Counsellor (600 hours).

Log sheets must be endorsed by the Head of Organisation or equivalent. Clinical Supervisors can endorse such logs only if s/he is a staff member of the Organisation and authorised by the Head to do so.

Submission of log sheets and/or summary sheets endorsed by the Head of Organisation or an equivalent authority.

Supervision hours

Minimum fifty (50) hours of conducting clinical supervision. Provide log sheets demonstrating a minimum of fifty (50) hours of supervision provided (which can only be clocked during/after the training in clinical supervision).

A minimum of 100 hours of post-graduation supervision received, of which at least forty (40) hours shall be endorsed by SAC Clinical Supervisors or equivalent clinical supervisors from other recognised professional counselling bodies. Provide log sheets demonstrating a minimum of 100 hours of supervision received. Log sheets must be endorsed by the Clinical Supervisor, who is RC/RCS/equivalent.

If you have more than one supervisor, use a separate log sheet for each.

Training in clinical supervision

Minimum fifty (50) hours, plus submission of certificates. Documentation must clearly indicate that these are Training in Clinical Supervision hours.

Professional indemnity insurance

Cover must be held through your organisation, or under the SAC Medical Malpractice scheme. Article 5.5 of the SAC Constitution requires all registrants to show evidence of professional indemnity coverage on new registration and on renewal. Exemption may be applied for.

What to submit

Send your application by email to admin@sacsingapore.org. The Clinical Supervision Board reviews the complete file, so an incomplete submission will delay the assessment.

Two-yearly renewal of Registered Clinical Supervisor status

Registered Clinical Supervisors must submit a renewal request in order for the two-yearly fee to be invoiced. The fee is SGD 100, and runs for two years from the date of SAC EXCO approval.

The Board does not currently require a renewal application with supporting evidence. Beyond the renewal request, you need only hold active Registered Counsellor status and valid Professional Indemnity Insurance.

A non-refundable $20 administrative fee applies to refunds for member-initiated changes, including withdrawals, cancellations, modifications, corrections, overpayments and accidental fee transfers.
