The Singapore Association for Counselling is the professional body representing counsellors, psychotherapists, counselling educators and students in Singapore. SAC maintains the Register of Counsellors and the Register of Clinical Supervisors, sets standards for counsellor training and practice, and recognises counselling programmes offered in Singapore.

SAC membership and registration are assessed against published criteria. Every member is bound by the SAC Code of Ethics. Employers, referring agencies and clients may confirm a member’s standing on the registers.
Public Verification of Standing
Registered Counsellor and Registered Clinical Supervisor status is listed publicly. Employers, referring agencies and clients may check a member's current standing on the registers.
Continuing Professional Development
Workshops, plenary sharings and sub-committee networks across social service agencies, Institutes of Higher Learning, schools, prisons, eldercare and healthcare. Registered Counsellors submit 50 CPD hours every two years for renewal.
Representation of the Profession
SAC represents the profession to government agencies, employers and educators, including on the Skills Framework for Social Service, salary guidelines and standards affecting counselling careers in Singapore.
The Work of the Association.
The Association’s work follows its mission: to protect the interests of clients, the community and the profession by maintaining standards of counsellor training and practice, including standards of supervision, and to engage individuals, groups and stakeholders with an interest in the field of counselling.
Membership
Seven membership categories: Fellow, Master Clinical Member, Clinical Member, Provisional Clinical Member, Allied Member, Student Member and Associate Member. Annual renewal applies, and the Code of Ethics binds every member.
Registration
Assessment for Registered Counsellor and Registered Clinical Supervisor status against published criteria for training, supervised practice and continuing professional development.
Course Recognition
Recognition of counselling programmes offered by institutes in Singapore, granted for a set term and renewed on application by the institution, so students know which qualifications lead to registration.
Events & Advertising
Conferences, workshops and sub-committee sharings, and advertising to a counselling audience.
Publications & Resources
The Code of Ethics, practice guidelines, the Counselling & Psychotherapy Review Singapore journal, and other resources used by members in practice.

Embracing Professionalism in Counselling and Transforming to Serve the Community
The logo consists of two figures intertwined and elevated in a spiral to reflect open communication and knowledge sharing among SAC members, and with local agencies and government bodies, to achieve mutual interests and collaborative efforts in the effective provision of services to clients.
The blue hue represents the organisation’s values of professionalism, integrity and ethics, while the warm hue offers respect and diversity through protection. The five stars embedded in the blue spiral symbolises SAC’s five defining values: Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Ethics. At another level, it is also a reflection of it being a Singapore brand.

About the Association.
The Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) is the professional body representing counsellors, psychotherapists, counselling educators and students in Singapore. SAC has come a long way. From a small group, we have now grown to over 2,200 members, with members from both the public and private counselling sectors.
SAC established the Register of Counsellors in March 2003 and the Register of Clinical Supervisors in March 2017. To date, we have more than 900 Registered Counsellors and 200 Registered Clinical Supervisors, and many more working towards registration.
