CPRS Volume 2 has been published and can be read through World Scientific Publishing. SAC members may access Volumes 1 and 2, with instructions available through the membership portal, subject to availability.
Aims and Scope
CPRS is a platform for practitioners, researchers and educators to share and learn client-focused practices that have practical relevance for helping clients.
The emphasis of the annal is on advancing professional knowledge and skills that contribute to clients’ growth, development and wellbeing. Readers can expect insights into the diverse counselling approaches, interventions and strategies that may be applied to improve the overall quality of care in the wider community.
The annal documents best practices developed as alternative ways of meeting local practice problems, societal issues and setting-related difficulties. It focuses on three areas: practice-based research, the indigenisation or adaptation of counselling modalities relevant to local contexts, and issues concerning special settings or client populations in Singapore and other Asian societies.

How a Manuscript Moves Through Review
Abstract Submission
Submit your abstract to the editors for initial consideration against the aims and scope of the journal.
Submission Outcome
The editors advise whether the abstract is taken forward to a full paper.
First Paper Submission
The complete manuscript is submitted and sent for double-blind review.
Revisions and Second Submission
Reviewer comments are returned to the author, and a revised manuscript is submitted.
Publication
The editors make the final decision on acceptance, and accepted papers are published in the volume.
Guidelines for Contributors
Research approval. All manuscripts dealing with human subjects must include a statement that informed consent has been sought, and that the study has been approved by an institutional review board.
Policy on duplicate publication. Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published, and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
All manuscripts must be typewritten in font size 12 and double spaced. The presentation style must follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition. British or American spellings are both acceptable, but must be consistent throughout the manuscript. Where applicable, a separate section entitled Compliance with Ethical Standards must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, and record approval by an institutional review board, giving the name of the institution and the reference number.
A title page providing authors’ names, institutional affiliations and contacts, meaning email and phone number. An abstract of 150 to 200 words plus five key words. Text, inclusive of footnotes and references: review articles 4,000 to 5,000 words; original empirical quantitative articles 3,000 to 6,000 words; original empirical qualitative articles 3,000 to 7,000 words; original clinical case studies 3,000 to 4,000 words. Tables and figures are limited to five in total, and authors are responsible for obtaining copyright permission to reproduce tables, figures, photographs or illustrations from published materials.
All manuscripts are submitted by email to The Editors, Counselling and Psychotherapy Review Singapore, at publications@sacsingapore.org. Authors are required to ensure that their manuscripts meet the journal requirements before submission. Manuscripts that do not meet them will be returned to the author before peer review.
The Counselling & Psychotherapy Review Singapore follows a rigorous double-blind reviewing policy in which the identities of the author and reviewer are not disclosed to each other. The editors will initially review each manuscript. Only those manuscripts that meet the scientific standards, aims and scope of the journal will be sent for further review. The editors are responsible for final decisions regarding the acceptance of a peer-reviewed paper.
