Boards & Sub-Committees

The boards oversee the Association’s standards. The sub-committees take on specific areas of the Association’s work. Both report to the Executive Committee.

All appointments are nominated through the Nomination Committee and confirmed by the Executive Committee.

Nomination Committee

Provides the initial review of every nomination for appointment to a board or sub-committee and recommends them to the Executive Committee. It also oversees the nomination and election of the Executive Committee, and of Fellow members of the Association.

Reviews new applications for Clinical Membership and Registered Counsellor status, and reviews renewal applications from Registered Counsellors.

Approves entry to the SAC Clinical Supervision Register and maintains the standards behind it, reviewing the admission criteria at least once a year.

Assists the Executive Committee in overseeing applications for recognition of counsellor training courses under the SAC Course Recognition Scheme, and conducts periodical review of postgraduate counselling programmes delivered in Singapore.

Receives, initiates and investigates complaints of unethical conduct by members, resolves or recommends action on each case, reports to the Executive Committee, and maintains the rules set out in the SAC Ethics Manual of Procedures.

Supports member engagement and the overall membership experience: orientating new members, helping with queries and concerns, running networking events, and recommending enhancements to membership programmes.

Advances research and evidence-informed practice: working towards a periodical for the Association, leading or contributing to conferences, forums and symposia, and advising the Executive Committee on research matters. A doctoral qualification is required to join, and relevant certification should be attached when applying.
